What did you think of your 2017 season in Michelin Le Mans Cup?
It was everything I’d hoped it would be: the same level of professional organisation as ELMS, with challenging circuits and competitive grids, but thankfully less of the traffic issues that provide an extra challenge to the gentlemen driver. Alex Kapadia’s one-to-one coaching was a great help to me having previously only driven GT4 and Historics.
As a gentleman driver, how do you feel about being the main player in the championship?
It’s more pressure, but in a good way. It must be hard for the pro drivers who would normally qualify the car to watch us!
In our case, Alex started the races which took some pressure of me. For some of the races, this gave us a tactical advantage. Unfortunately at Portimão at the last race of the season the opposite was true with safety cars and full course yellow in the first half of the race.
Do you think getting the chance to race on the full 24 Hours of Le Mans track is an important part of the season in the Michelin Le Mans Cup?
It certainly is, but unfortunately work commitments prevented me from participating in the Le Mans round. Maybe next year?
What are your plans for the 2018 season?
I’m hoping that Alex Kapadia and I will be back racing with RLR once more
