Seventeen LMP3 cars were on the season entry list of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup with some additional cars at some of the races, such as at Road To Le Mans.

Let’s have a look at some facts and figures of the LMP3 class of this 2020 season:

  1. DKR Engineering were crowned LMP3 champions for the 4th time in a row. This means that since the introduction of the LMP3 class in the championship in 2017, the team from Luxembourg is the only one to have been crowned champions.
  2. With 120 points, DKR Engineering set a new record for the highest number of points ever scored in MLMC in the LMP3 class.
  3. This season the Duqueine D08-M30 took four victories out of seven: three for DKR Engineering (Le Castellet, Race 1 of Road to Le Mans, Monza) and one for Nielsen Racing (Portimão).
  4. In its first season on track, the Ligier JS P320 scored three victories, all with the Swiss team Cool Racing (Spa, Le Castellet 120 and Race 2 of Road To Le Mans).
  5. During the six events of the season, the Ligier JS P320 set the fastest race lap for four rounds:

- In Le Castellet with a lap in 1:48.988 by the n°69 Cool Racing of Ben Barnicoat.

-In Spa, the n°98 Motorsport98 of Dino Lunardi was fastest during the race with a time of 2:15.384.

-In Road To Le Mans, Matt Bell at the wheel of the n°24 United Autosports Ligier was fastest with a lap in 3:47.535 during the race 1.

-In Portimão, Matt Bell again was the fastest during the race with a lap in 1:36.881

  1. Cool Racing took four pole positions out of seven, with the n°37 Ligier JS P320 of Nicolas Maulini and Edouard Cauhaupé.
  2. Out of seven races, the polesitter went on to win the race on only three occasions. In Le Castellet for DKR Engineering and in Spa and Le Mans (race 2) for Cool Racing (n°37)
  3. The cumulative distance covered by all the LMP3 winners of each race is equal to 2020,752 kilometres…quite a coincidence for the 2020 season!

Next week, we will have a look to the GT3 class stats and figures, so stay tuned!
