Qualifying for Round 3 of the 2016 Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup in Austria saw the winner of the Road to Le Mans race, the no72 SMP Racing Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 of Alexsey Basov and Victor Shaitar claim pole position for this afternoon’s race. Basov posted a 1m29.356 lap, 0.551s ahead of the no55 FFF Racing by Team ACM McLaren 650S of Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Adrian Quaife-Hobbs, with the Japanese driver also posting a sub 1 minute 30 second lap to start the race on the front row of the grid.
Edigio Perfetti posted the third fastest lap in qualifying in the no88 Team Mentos Racing Porsche to head up the second row with a 1m30.091 lap time.
The no71 AF Corse Ferrari of Mads Rasmussen and Felipe Barreiros didn’t take part in qualifying following the accident in the first free practice session yesterday and is not taking any further part in the weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
Round 3 of the 2016 Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup will take place at 17h00 today, with the chequered flag shown 2 hours later.
