In extremely wet and challenging conditions the final qualifying session of the 2016 Michelin GT 3Le Mans Cup saw the no88 Mentos Racing Porsche of Edigio Perfetti take the final pole position of the season, the Norwegian drivers’ second pole of 2016.
Perfetti set a 1m56.788 lap, 1.9 seconds ahead of the no55 FFF Racing Team by ACM McLaren of Hiroshi Hamaguchi, with Driver’s championship leader Aleksey Basov in the no72 SMP Racing Ferrari 488 in third 0.3 seconds further back.
The current Team’s Championship leaders, the no34 TF Sport Aston Martin of Salih Yoluc, was the only car to stay out for the entire session, with the Turkish driver improving to fourth late in the session as he visibly wrestled to keep the car on the track in the wet conditions.
The final race of the 2016 season will take place at 16h45 later today, the 2-hour deciding who will become the first Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup Champions.
