Kessel Racing and Graff Take First Poles of 2018 Season

In the first dry session of the first race weekend of the season the no8 Kessel Racing Ferrari F488 of Sergio Pianezzola took the GT3 pole position at Le Castellet.

The Italian, in only his third ever race event, posted a 1m57.141 lap on his final lap to finish nearly six tenths ahead of the rest of the field.  The ex rally driver held the provisional pole position for most of the session, despite having one lap deleted for exceeding track limits at T14 during the 15 minute session.

Pianezzola will start the race with the no71 AF Corse in second place after Piergiuseppe Perazzini set a 1m57.735 lap.  The no51 Spirit of Race Ferrari and the no88 Ebimotors Porsche were third and fourth fastest respectively.

The LMP3 pole was secured by Eric Trouillet at the chequered flag, the French driver posting a 1m53.675 lap in the no39 Graff Norma M30 to snatch the pole position from Anthony Pons in the no30 CD Sport Norma in the final seconds of the 15 minute qualifying session.

Row two of the grid will be occupied by the Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen team, with Tony Wells on the no2 Ligier finishing ahead of the no79 Ligier of Alasdair McCaig.

Round 1 of the 2018 Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place at 16h00 this afternoon at the Circuit Paul Ricard.
