“I love Monza, to be honest I think it is my favourite track on the schedule. It’s a classic, it’s high speed, there is no run off. It’s much more American in that way, we don’t have that run off like you get at Le Castellet. I prefer the Monza style of track more where you actually have to be inside the track limits all the time.

“Monza is another track that is good for racing, which I enjoy a lot more in the Le Mans Cup, where it is the same class out there. It’s important to have a track that you can race on.”

“My favourite corner at Monza is the last turn, Parabolica. It’s where you just carry that speed through and run out to the exit. I also like Ascari, which is quite fun as well. The thing is there are a lot of good parts at Monza, it’s hard to pick one, but Parabolica is the one if I had to choose.

“It might be very interesting to take our car onto the banking. However, I’ve done Daytona on the banking in a P2 car, and that porpoises enough, so perhaps it would be better to stick to the grand prix track. There is certainly a lot of heritage and history at Monza and it’s one of those places where you drive in through the gate or out of the tunnel and you know immediately you are somewhere special, and that is badass.”

Round 3 of the 2021 Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza on Saturday 10 July.
