The first Free Practice session of the weekend in Barcelona saw the no85 R-ace GP Duqueine set the fastest lap of the 60-minute session with Hadrien David lapping the 4.657km circuit in 1m35.873.
The French driver’s benchmark time was just 0.093s ahead of the nearest car, the no66 Rinaldi Racing Ligier of Daniel Keilwitz, the German’s best lap was a 1m35.966.
Reigning champions Team Virage were third quickest with a 1m36.019 set by Ricardo Gracia Filho in the no59 Ligier, which was 0.146s behind the fastest car and just 0.037s ahead of David Droux in no97 COOL Racing Ligier.
The GT3 category was headed by the two Kessel Racing Ferraris, with Fran Rueda Mateos continuing to set the fastest times after his performance in Wednesday’s test. The Spaniard posted a best lap of 1m40.008, 0.239s ahead of his teammate David Cleto Fumanelli in the no12 Kessel Racing 296 GT3.
The no51 AF Corse Ferrari made it a 1-2-3 for the Prancing Horse, with Alessandro Balzan posting a 1m40.363, the American’s time being 0.659s ahead of the fourth fastest car the no24 Steller Motorsport Audi R8 of Alex Aka.
Free Practice 2 will take place later today with the 60-minute session due to start at 17h45.
