The last official test before the start of the season at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya saw Swiss team COOL Racing set the two fastest times in the morning and afternoon sessions.
In the morning the no97 COOL Racing Ligier was the quickest of the 36 cars taking part in the test, with David Droux’s 1m35.992 lap setting the pace for the others to match.The Swiss driver was 0.427s ahead of Daniel Keilwitz in the no66 Rinaldi Racing Ligier and 0.447s ahead of the no20 High Class Racing Ligier of Tommy Foster at the end of the 4-hour session.
The afternoon session saw only one car to go faster than the no97 Ligier and that was the sister car, the no87 COOL Racing Ligier-Nissan, with Adrien Closmenil lapping 0.2 seconds faster in 1m35.748.The no87 and no97 Ligiers were the only cars to go faster than 1 minute 36 seconds.
The no20 High Class Racing Ligier set the third fastest time of the day and second fastest in the afternoon session, with Tommy Foster posting a best lap of 1m36.195, just over two tenths quicker than his morning time.
In GT3 the no74 Kessel Racing Ferrari 296 set the fastest lap time in both sessions with Fran Rueda at the wheel.The Spanish driver set a 1m40.689 lap in the morning session which wasn’t beaten in the afternoon, with Rueda’s fastest lap in that session being a 1m41.245.
The no12 Kessel Racing Ferrari was second fastest for the two sessions, with David Fumanelli setting a 1m40.841 in the morning.It was a Ferrari 1-2-3 at the top of the combined time sheets, with the no88 AF Corse 296 GT3 in third spot after Riccardo Agostini lapped the 4.657km circuit in 1m41.104, 0.232s ahead of the no24 Steller Motorsport Audi of Alex Aka.
Round 1 of the 2024 Michelin Le Mans Cup will get underway with Free Practice 1 starting 09h50 on Friday 12 April.
