United Autosports Leads the Way in the MLMC Collective Test in Spain

The 31 cars competing in the first round of the 2021 Michelin Le Mans Cup at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain had the opportunity to take part in the collective test, which gave the teams seven hours of track time.

The two sessions were headed by the no23 United Autosports Ligier JS P320-Nissan of Wayne Boyd and John Schauerman, with Boyd setting the fastest laps.The reigning ELMS LMP3 champion’s morning time of 1m40.516 was the best of the day, with his afternoon time being just two tenths slower.

The no33 CD Sport Ligier of Michael Jensen and Adam Eteki set the second fastest time of the day, with Eteki’s 1m40.525 lap being just 0.009s slower than Boyd.The no71 Team Virage Ligier of Garett Grist and Rob Hodes was third fastest and Grist’s time was just 0.090s behind Boyd at the end of the morning session.

The no2 Pzoberer Zürichsee by TFT Porsche 911 GT3 R of Nicolas Leutwiler and Julien Andlauer was the fastest of the five GT3 entries in both sessions, with Andlauer posting the day’s best class time of 1m45.284 in the morning.The French driver’s afternoon time was 0.4s slower but nearly three tenths ahead of the no8 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GT3 of reigning champion Rino Mastronardi and Logan Sergeant, with Sergeant posting the car’s best time of 1m45.933 in the morning.

The competitors will be back on track on Friday 16 April for the two free practice sessions, with qualifying and the first 2-hour race of the year on Saturday 17 April.
