The Michelin Le Mans Cup will once again start the season at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with round 1 of the 2026 season.  This year marks the 6th edition of the event, with the first race being held in 2019.

The Michelin Le Mans Cup didn’t race in Spain in 2020, due to the Covid restrictions and again in 2022, which was the event immediately after Road To Le Mans.  The MLMC returned in 2023 and has been the opening race of the series since.

Here are some facts and figures from the previous five races held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

  • Tommy Foster is the only driver to win the MLMC race in Barcelona twice in 2021 and 2024 (picture below).
  • Kessel Racing is the only team to win the MLMC race in Barcelona twice in 2019 and 2025 (picture above).
  • Ferrari has won three of the five races, Kessel Racing in 2019 and 2025 and AF Corse in 2024.  Porsche has won one race (Pzoberer Zürichsee by TFT) in 2021 and Aston Martin in 2023 (Racing Spirit of Léman). 
  • In LMP3, the Norma M30 has won one race in 2019 with DKR Engineering. 
  • Ligier has won five times. RLR MSport (2021), Team Virage (2023) and High Class Racing (2024) have won one race each with the Ligier JS P320-Nissan.  In 2025 CLX Motorsport (Cedric Oltramare / David Droux) won the LMP3 class and Rinaldi Racing (Steve Parrow / Griffin Peebles) won the first ever LMP3 Pro/Am class, both teams running the Gen 3 Ligier JS P325-Toyota.  In fact, both teams scored a 1-2 finish. 
  • In the five races held in Barcelona, the eventual champions have won their class at the Spanish track six times. In 2019 both the LMP3 and GT3 winners went on to win the title at the end of the season.  In 2021, Nicolas Leutwiler won the GT3 race and was crowned drivers champion at the end of the season.  In 2023 both the LMP3 and GT3 winning crews went on to win their respective titles. Finally in 2024 Matt Kurzejewski and Alessandro Balzon won the GT3 category in the no51 AF Corse Ferrari and went on to win the title.

2019 Winners

  • The first MLMC race held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 27 July 2019 was won by François Kirmann and Laurents Hörr in the DKR Engineering run Norma M30-Nissan.  Sergio Pianezzola and Giacomo Piccini won the GT3 class in the Kessel Racing Ferrari 488.

  • LMP3 – Jens Reno Moller / Tommy Foster – High Class Racing Ligier JS P320-Nissan
  • GT3 – Matt Kurzejewski / Alessandro Balzan – AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3
