Times Tumble on Dry Track in FP2

After torrential rain in the opening 60-minute session of the weekend, the drivers were greeted with much better track conditions that saw the lap times improve significantly in Free Practice 2 ahead of tomorrow’s race in the Michelin Le Mans Cup.

Once again it was the no25 Lanan Racing Ligier that finished at the top of the time sheets.  Duncan Tappy lapped the 7km Spa-Francorchamps circuit in 2m14.837, over twenty seconds ahead of the best time the British driver set in the morning session. 

Title contenders Colin Noble (no79 Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen) and Leonard Hoogenboom (no3 DKR Engineering) were second and third fastest respectively.  Noble’s bets lap was a 2m15.397, just 0.148s ahead of his Dutch rival.

The fastest GT3 time was set by the no77 Kessel Racing Ferrari, with Andrea Piccini posting a 2m18.897, 0.426s ahead of his brother Giacomo in the championship leading no8 Kessel Racing F488.

Qualifying for the Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place on Saturday 22 September at 11h35, followed by the race at 15h50.
