At the end of the second 60-minute Free Practice session on the opening day of round 1 of the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup at Monza the no5 RAM Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 of Tom Onslow-Cole and Ramon Vos posted the first sub 1 minute 50 second lap for the GT3 class.
Onslow-Cole posted a 1m49.632 lap of the 5.793km Monza track, 0.5 seconds ahead of the no46 Ebimotors Lamborghini and nearly a second ahead of the no75 Optimum Racing Audi R8.
In the LMP3 class the fastest car was the no43 KEO Racing Ligier-Nissan of Scott Andrews with a time of 1m47.268. The Australian’s time was 0.268 seconds slower than the fastest time in the morning session set by Jean Glorieux in the no3 DKR Engineering Ligier JS P3 but 0.030 seconds ahead of the second fastest car in the afternoon session, the no99 N’Race Ligier of Jordan Perroy.
The top six cars in the LMP3 case were split by less than 0.5 seconds, setting the scene for an action packed qualifying session, which begins at 12h20 tomorrow afternoon.
