Swiss driver Cedric Oltramare is a new recruit to endurance racing, finishing sixth in the 2022 Ligier European Series with Swiss team CCOL Racing, with one race win and two further podiums to his credit.
Oltramare then moved up to LMP3 with the team in the Asian Le Mans Series alongside French driver Adrien Chila and Argentina’s Marcos Siebert, with the trio taking a second place finish in the second race in Abu Dhabi. He is now competing alongside Adrien Chila in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, where the Franco-Swiss pairing are currently lying in third place overall.
Le Castellet was a good result for Oltramare and Chila with a second-place finish from pole position, so how does Cedric Oltramare sum up the season so far?
“So far, the season has been fun for Adrien and myself,” he admitted. “We’ve both been learning a lot, especially me, with my race craft with the number of cars that are in our category. I started the season with a few unfortunate mistakes during the end of races, but I am quite happy with the results we’ve had so far, especially the result in Le Castellet because it gives me confidence for the rest of the season.”
What made the difference in Le Castellet to gain the first MLMC podium finish of the season?“Le Castellet is not particularly a track that I love but it is a track I enjoy driving on.I think what made the difference was my state of mind, I was quite calm during the race and focused purely on my driving.”
The next race on the schedule is in Aragon, which is the first time the MLMC has raced there. What does Cedric Oltramare think of the circuit at Motorland Aragon?“I’ve never raced in Aragon before, but I have tested there recently and I really liked the track, so I am looking forward to the race there.I think it will suit the car quite well because there are a lot of fast turns, and the circuit is quite fun and varied.”
“There are no strict expectations for us in Aragon,” Oltramare concluded. “We’re going to try and do our best like we always do, try to have a clean race and if the result comes, we’ll be happy.”
The race at MotorLand Aragon, Round 4 of the 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place on Friday 25 August.
