Track action got underway today at Portimão for the first day with seven hours of testing divided in two sessions. This is the first time that the LMP3 are joining the GT3 cars on track for the Michelin Le Mans Cup.
The quickest car of day was the Norma M30 Nissan n°19 of M.Racing – YMR, Yann Ehrlacher set the fastest time with a lap in 1:39.429. The second fastest car was the n°14 RLR M Sport Liger JSP3 driven by Ross Warburton and Alex Kapadia with a lap in 1.39:775. The third LMP3 of this first day of testing is the SVC Sport Management Ligier n°4 with a lap in 1:41.080 by Emanuele Busnelli.

In the GT3 class, the Porsche 911 of Gulf Racing UK set the fastest time with a lap in 1:42.162, quicker than some of the LMP3 of the grid. Just behind we find the Mercedes of Lee Mowle and Phil Keen with a lap in 1:43.119 just before the end of the session. The third best time of the class was set by the Audi R8 of Optimum Racing with Joe Osborne and Flick Haigh at the wheel (1:43.127). With one Porsche, one Audi and one Mercedes in the top three, we can already see the diversity of the GT3 grid of the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup.
Three red flags disrupted the sessions, two this morning after the Audi n°75 ran off the track and the spin of the By Speed Factory Ligier JS P3 n°15 and one this afternoon after the n°19 of M.Racing – YMR went out. All cars were recovered and continued to test.
Day two of testing will get underway tomorrow from 9am with 7 hours of testing.
