Twenty Cars for 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup

The Michelin Le Mans Cup will begin season two on Saturday 13 May with twenty full season entries for the six events held at Monza, Le Mans, Red Bull Ring, Le Castellet, Spa-Francorchamps and the season finale at Portimão. The jewel in the crown will be Road to Le Mans, which will take place during the 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend, with two 55-minute races on the full 13.6km Circuit de La Sarthe.

This will be the first season that LMP3 entries are eligible and 14 cars will join the grid during 2017.

Thirteen Nissan powered Ligier JS P3s will be joined by a single Norma M30 run by the DKR Engineering from Luxembourg with Belgian driver Jean Glorieux and Spaniard Alexander Toril sharing the driving.

2016 ELMS LMP3 championship winning team United Autosports will also run two cars in the Le Mans Cup with American James McGuire joining Briton Matt Bell in the no 22 Ligier with British duo Shaun Lynn and Richard Meins in the no23 car.

ELMS regulars Duqueine Engineering, M.Racing-YMR, RLR M Sport and Graff will all run the Ligier JS P3 in the Le Mans Cup while the series has also attracted entries from Spanish teams Ibran Pardo Javier and SPV MotorSport, Dutch outfit Kox Racing, Swiss team Spirit of Race, British team Nielsen Racing, Motorsport98 from Belgium and N’Race from France.

The full season GT3 grid will feature six cars with the teams running Audi, Lamborghini, Mercedes and Porsche.  Other teams are expected to join the grid on a race-by-race basis during the season.

British teams RAM Racing and Lee Mowle will run the Mercedes AMG GT3 with Dutch driver Remon Vos joining Tom Onslow Cole in the RAM Mercedes, with Phil Keen joining Lee Mowle in the no7 Mercedes.

Austrian team SVC Sport Management and Italian outfit Ebimotors will compete with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3.  French duo Cedric Mezard and Steeve Hiesse will race in the SVC Sport Management Lamborghini and Italians Emanuele Buselli and Fabio Babini are entered in the Ebimotors Huracan.

Gulf Racing UK will run a Porsche 911 GT3R for British pairing Andrew Baker and Ben Barker, with the final full season entry is another all British team, the no75 Optimum Racing Audi R8 of Flick Haigh and Joe Osborne

To get the 2017 season underway most of the full season grid has gathered in Portimão for the pre-season collective test with the teams and driver benefiting from 14 hours of track time on the circuit that will host the season finale in October.
