Following the Free Practices held at Le Castellet for the first round of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup season, Oreca, official engine supplier for the new LMP3 generation, saw a fuel consumption problem that could affect the possibility of the cars to accomplish the whole race with only one pitstop.
It was then decided by the Panel of Stewards (Bulletin n°3 below) to enforce an additional and mandatory pitstop for the Le Castellet round.
To not face the same situation for the second round of the 2020 season in Spa-Francorchamps, the 8th August, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, promoter of the Michelin Le Mans Cup, expressly ask Oreca to solve this fuel consumption problem without any delay.
