FP1: DKR Out In Front at Le Castellet

Under blue skies and temperatures at 28 degrees centigrade the first free practice session at Le Castellet for the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup got underway. Championship leader Jean Glorieux set the fastest lap in the no3 DKR Engineering Norma-Nissan and Phil Keen in the no7 Lee Mowle Mercedes AMG was the fastest of the GT3 contenders.

The 60-minute session was interrupted for nearly 10 minutes after the no55 Spirit of Race Ligier-Nissan of Claudio Sdanewitsch spun off an hit the barriers at Turn 12 15 minutes into the session.  The car was recovered and the session resumed uninterrupted to the chequered flag.

Jean Glorieux’s time of 2m04.389 was 0.395s ahead of Peter Kox in the no48 Kox Racing Ligier (2m04.784), with Colin Noble in the no79 Nielsen Racing Ligier third fastest with a 2m05.047. 

Phil Keen’s best lap of 2m07.157 was 0.663s ahead of Joe Osborne in the no75 Optimum Racing Audi R8 (2m07.820), with Steeve Hiesse in the no8 SVC Sport Management Lamborghini Huracan third with a 2m07.893
