After crashing out of the lead of the Red Bull Ring round of the Le Mans Cup, RAM Racing are back and ready to fight for a win with the #5 Mercedes AMG GT3, this time at Circuit Paul Ricard in the South of France.
RAM Racing are no strangers to the European Le Mans Series paddock, having won the championship in 2013, but it’s the debut race season for amateur Remon Vos (NL) who is impressing in the Michelin Le Mans Cup alongside professional driver Tom Onslow-Cole (GB).
Team Principal Dan Shufflebottom says the team has everything in place to take a podium and, if it all falls into place on Saturday, a race win is even possible.
“Although we didn’t finish the race due to an incident with an LMP3 car, we showed at Red Bull Ring that we have everything we need to challenge for the win,” Shufflebottom said. “When the incident occurred, we were leading by 17 seconds thanks to a great stint from Tom, and Remon was looking calm and in control.
“We’re not necessarily going to run the same strategy here at Paul Ricard… we’ll make that decision after qualifying.”
Qualifying for Le Mans Cup at Paul Ricard takes place at 1200 on Saturday 26 August and the race starts at 1600. Fans can watch both sessions at www.lemanscup.com
