Focus on the season of Villorba Corse in Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup

Villorba Corse competed in the first season of the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup. The Italian team ran the n°8 Ferrari F458 Italia GT3 driven by Cedric Meard and Steeve Hiesse. At the end of the season the team finished 5th overall with 35 points. At the same time the team also competed in European Le Mans Series with a Ligier JSP3. We have met with Villorba Corse’s Team Principal Raimondo Amadio for a review of the team’s 2016 season in Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup.

2016 review: “From our point of view, the season was satisfying. We finished twice in fifth position, in Le Castellet and in Estoril for the last race. We have improved all year long to finish with two good results. The foundations of this championship are good I think. It fits well to the philosophy of our GT3 program. In our team we are dealing with several programs: LMP3, GT3, GT4… and I have to say that we appreciate the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup.”

The 2017 season: “As I said we really like to compete in this championship and we would like to be there next year. We are also interested in the opening of the championship to the LMP3. The best solution would be to have an LMP2 and an LMP3 in European Le Mans Series as well as an LMP3 and a GT3 in Michelin Le Mans Cup.”

The 2017 cars: “There should have some changes concerning the car as we might have a new one.”

The Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup: “This championship is really good. I hope that it will keep growing and improving. The tracks are really interesting and Road To Le Mans is the top step of the season. It was a really good experience to do this race on such a mythical track. Concerning the format of the races, within the European Le Mans Series weekend, it’s really good.”
