Debut Pole for RAM Racing Denied and Pole Number Six for DKR Engineering

Remon Vos took a well timed debut Michelin Le Mans Cup pole position in the no5 RAM Racing Mercedes AMG GT3. The Dutch driver spun on his opening lap but recovered well to post a best time of 1m46.031.

However in post qualifying scrutineering an irregularity was found in the fuel which led to the disqualification of the no5 Mercedes.

Championship leader Emanuele Busnelli finished qualifying in second place when the Italian set a 1m46.286 lap late in the session to push his rival for the 2017 title, Lee Mowle, down a place in the no7 Mercedes AMG.  Following the disqualification of the no5 car the no46 Ebimotors Lamborghini was moved up to pole position with Busnelli and Babini claiming the extra championship point.

Champions elect DKR Engineering and Jean Glorieux took their sixth pole position from seven events with the Belgian driver finishing 1.3 seconds ahead of the rest of the LMP3 field in Portimao.  

The no79 Nielsen Racing Ligier of Tony Wells was second quickest with a 1m42.797 lap, which was 0.143s faster than the no39 Graff Ligier of Eric Trouillet and three tenths ahead of the no9 Duqueine Engineering Ligier of Jonatan Jorge.

 The final 120-minute race of the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup will start at 09h00 local /10h00 CET on Sunday 22 October.
