With the sun shining and temperatures soaring the second Michelin Le Mans Cup Free Practice session at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve ended with the no3 DKR Engineering Norma-Nissan of Alex Toril and Jean Glorieux at the top of the time sheets. Toril set the fastest time of the weekend so far with a 1m41.480, 0.743 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
The no98 Motorsport98 Ligier of Andy Meyrick and Eric de Doncker was second fastest with Meyrick setting a 1m42.223, with the no14 RLR M Sport Ligier of Alex Kapadia and Ross Warburton, with Kapadia setting an identical time of 1m42.223 to the no98 car.
The no7 Lee Mowle Mercedes AMG was the quickest of the GT3 contenders with Phil Keen posting a 1m44.583 lap around the 4.652km Portimão track. The no20 Gulf Racing UK Porsche was second fastest with Ben Barker setting a time 0.7 seconds adrift of the leading Mercedes.
Championship contenders Fabio Babini and Emanuele Busnelli could only manage a best lap in the no46 Ebimotors Lamborghini Huracan of 1m45.800, which put the Italian pairing 5th in the GT3 class ahead of qualifying later today.
Qualifying for the Michelin Le Mans Cup in Portimão will take place this afternoon at 15h40 local / 16h40 CET.
