The second and final free practice session of the opening day of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup season saw the teams make their final preparations ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying and 2-hour race.
The afternoon session was led by the no69 Cool Racing Ligier with Ben Barnicoat setting the best time of 1m49.239, 0.5 seconds slower than the best time of the set by Andy Meyrick in the first practice session.
The no23 United Autosports Ligier of Wayne Boyd kept the British team at the top of the table, finishing 0.124s behind the Cool Racing Ligier with the no98 Motorsport98 Ligier in 3rd.The fastest Duqueine M30-D08 was the no20 Grainmarket Racing machine in 4thplace, 0.486s behind the lead car.
The no24 United Autosports Ligier, which was the fastest LMP3 of the day, sat the session in the pitlane, the team saving running time ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying session.
Reigning GT3 Champion Giacomo Piccini set the best lap time of the day for the class in the no8 Iron Lynx Ferrari.The Italian lapped the 5.77km circuit in 1m53.521, four tenths quicker than the best time set in the earlier session.no2 Pzoberer Zürichsee by TFT Porsche 911 GT3 R of Julien Andlauer was second fastest, the French’s time just 0.119s behind the lead Ferrari.
Qualifying for Round 1 of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup at Le Castellet will take place tomorrow afternoon at 12h10 with the GT3 class followed by LMP3 at 12h35.
