We have met with drivers of the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup to have their impressions about those first days on track.
Joe Osborne – Optimum Racing – Audi R8 n°75
“The tests went well, it was a new circuit for us as a team and Flick [Haigh] has never been here; it’s not the easiest track to learn. It’s a really cool circuit, one of my favourites. Although it’s a new circuit it feels like it’s an old track, the way the corners are and it’s very physical on the driver and the car. We did lots of laps yesterday and everyone is happy, we’ll do the same today.”
“It’s hard to say at the moment what we expect for the season. Obviously, our competitors are here, we can see them. Like all pro Am racing it’s always about the amateurs, how quick we can make them. At the moment, I think Flick is doing well, she is definitely at the top of the times of the amateurs. I’m sure when we will get to Monza everything will change again and I think for me it’s too early to make predictions.”
Alex Kapadia – RLR M Sport – Ligier JS P3 Nissan n°14

“The tests are going pretty well so far. We haven’t had a lot of testing prior to this, it’s our first official test days as a Michelin Le Mans Cup team. We are looking pretty confident actually, Ross [Warburton] is making good improvements, we are working on the car so it’s going very well.
"I love the track, it’s a really challenging drivers’ circuit as every corner has a unique challenge for the drivers; it’s an exciting track. It’s definitely one that you need to learn.”
“I’m not entirely sure yet of what we can expect this season. Obviously, there’s a few people who are not here on this test so it’s difficult to gauge where we are. I would like us to be in the top five in the championship, but hopefully we will be able to go a bit higher than that.”
Peter Kox – Kox Racing – Ligier JS P3 Nissan n°48

« We are pleased with how the tests went. We prepared the car very well, we are very happy with the Ligier and I think we have a quite strong and small team. Until now we have run without any problem, it is good to be out again for the first time of the season. We really look forward to this Le Mans Cup, we think it’s a good format with some nice races, obviously, Le Mans is included which is good for the gentlemen drivers.
This track is not the easiest one to come for the first time especially for the gentlemen drivers but it is nice. Although I would prefer that it is a little bit more closed to where we are!
“Our goal for this season is obviously to win but we have to see how the other line-ups are, how strong they are… I know what we can expect from the speed as we are ok but we just have to see where we are.”
