The young French driver had a session long battle with the no5 Phoenix Racing Ligier of Finn Gehrsitz and the no11 WTM Powered by Phoenix Duqueine of Thorsten Kratz, finishing with a 1m40.803 lap 0.146 seconds ahead of Gehrsitz and 0.3 ahead of Kratz.

The no18 Mühlner Motorsport Duqueine of Matthias Luethen made a late charge to claim the second spot on row two of the grid alongside the no11 Duqueine for this afternoon’s 2-hour race.

GT3: Mastronardi Takes First Pole of 2021 Season

Reigning champion Rino Mastronardi added to his pole position tally of five in 2020 by taking the fastest lap in qualifying for Round 1 of the Michelin Le Mans Cup in Barcelona.The Italian’s time of 1m45.571 in the no8 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GT3 was 0.271s faster than Nicolas Leutwiler in the no2 Pzoberer Zürichsee by TFT Porsche 911 GT3 R, the Swiss driver losing two lap times due to exceeding track limits.

Belgium’s Sarah Bovy took the third fastest time in the no9 Iron Lynx Ferrari with a 1m47.564 on her MLMC debut after her late call up to join Doriane Pin in the all-female Iron Dames car.

The no93 10Q Racing Team Mercedes AMG GT3 of Wim Spinoy was fourth fastest, with the no51 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 of Ken Abe taking 5th in class.

The 2-hour race in Spain is due to get underway at 16h30 later this afternoon
