Wet Start to Official Test at Le Castellet

The first 4-hour session for the Michelin Le Mans Cup Official Test was held on a very wet track as the weather in the south of France continued to be inclement. Several cars span off in the extremely tricky conditions but apart from a bit of damage to the cars, and a little bit of dented pride for the drivers involved, everything was OK and the interruptions were kept to a minimum.

The no98 Motorsport98 Ligier-Nissan was the fastest car in the wet, with Andy Meyrick posting a 2m08.026 lap, nearly one second ahead of the nearest rival, the no22 United Autosports Ligier of Matt Bell.

The fastest GT3 car was the no8 Kessel Racing Ferrari F488 of Giacomo Piccini, the italian’s time of 2m11.021 good enough for 10th fastest overall.  Piccini was just over one second ahead of the second fastest GT3 contender, which was his brother Andrea in the no77 Kessel Ferrari.

The second test session will begin at 14h00.
