The no23 United Autosports Ligier of Wayne Boyd posted the fastest lap in the opening Free Practice session of the weekend at Le Castellet. The British driver set a 1m49.629 lap in the final few minutes of the 60-minute session to go ahead of the no37 Cool Racing Ligier of Josh Skelton by just 0.086s.
The no66 Rinaldi Racing Duqueine was third fastest, with Nicolas Varrone setting a 1m49.744, just 0.115s behind Boyd’s time, with the no69 Cool Racing Ligier in fourth, just 0.011s behind the Duqueine.
In GT3 it was Logan Sargeant, who is racing with the reigning champion Rino Mastronardi this weekend, who set the pace in the no8 Iron Lynx Ferrari with a 1m54.656, three tenths ahead of the first of the two Herberth Motorsport Porsches, the no91 911 of Robert Renauer finishing the session on 1 m54.941 lap time, 0.446s ahead of the second Herberth Motorsport Porsche of Alfred Renauer.
The second Free Practice session for the Le Castellet Round of the 2021 Michelin Le Mans Cup will be held at 17h10 this afternoon.
