United Autosports and Kessel Racing Top Test Times at Le Castellet

The morning session saw the best LMP3 time set with Wayne Boyd posting the best lap in the no23 United Autosports Ligier JS P320-Nissan.Boyd’s time of 1m48.299 was 0.440s faster than the second fastest car, the no69 Cool Racing Ligier with Ben Barnicoat setting the 1m48.739s lap of the 5.77km Circuit Paul Ricard.

The no10 Nielsen Racing was the top Duqueine M30 runner, with Rob Hodes doing the honours for the British team, six tenths off Boyd’s time.

In the GT3 category it was the no74 Kessel Racing Ferrari that headed the eight-car field. David Perel posted a 1m54.238 lap, 0.098s ahead of reigning champion Giacomo Piccini in the no8 Iron Lynx 488.

The afternoon session saw the LMP3 category once again headed by an United Autosports entered car but this time it was the no24 Ligier, driven by Andy Meyrick that set the best time of 1m48.528, just 0.002s ahead if the no27 MV2S Racing Ligier of Top Gear France presenter Bruce Jouanny.Eric de Doncker posted the third fastest lap of the session with a 1m48.854 in the no98 Motorsport98 Ligier, which was also the fifth fastest lap of the day behind Ben Barnicoat’s morning lap.

Meyrick’s time was two tenths slower than his teammate Wayne Boyd’s best time from the morning session but was still good enough to claim second fastest during the test.

The best time of the GT3 category was set in the afternoon session with Paolo Ruberti putting the no67 Kessel Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 into the top spot with a 1m53.383, just over eight tenths of a second quicker than the morning’s best lap.David Perel set the second fastest time of the afternoon session to give Kessel Racing a 1-2 in the official MLMC test.

The Michelin Le Mans Cup competitors will be back on track tomorrow for the first day of action for Round 1 of the 2020 season, with Free Practice 1 at 11h10.
