Salih Yoluc from Istanbul will compete with British driver Euan Hankey in the TF Sport Aston Martin in the inaugural season of the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup. The 30-year-old has scored four victories in his racing career, including a class win at the 24 Hours of Dubai in 2015. We caught up with Salih at the recent two day test at Le Castellet.

Q: How did the test go?

“It started really well but then the car broke down and we had to change the whole front end. So it was short first day, but the team did a great job repairing the car and we had a good second day.  I have been racing the Aston Martin for over a year now in GT Open and in the ELMS.”

Q: What attracted you to come and race in the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup?

“The calendar co-ordinates really well with the GT Open and we visit the same tracks.  The circuits we race on in the GT3 Le Mans Cup are cool.  The other factor was that the GT3 Le Mans Cup is more about the bronze drivers than about the professionals, so that’s very important for me.  I am looking forward to the race at Le Mans the most, I can’t wait for that one!”

Q: How do you feel flying the flag for Turkey?

“I don’t know of anyone else, I am the only Turkish driver at the moment.  It’s flattering obviously to be representing your country and I hope there will be others that want to race and represent Turkey in the future.”
