Strong Entry for Le Castellet 120

Round 3 of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place in the south of France with the second race of the season at the Circuit Paul Ricard.

The entry for Le Castellet 120 will consist of 24 cars across the LMP3 and GT3 classes.

Ten drivers and two teams will be racing on home soil in the second French race of the season with a further 16 nations represented on the grid from Europe, North and South America.

GT3: Maximum Points So Far for Piccini and Mastronardi

The six car GT3 field will feature five Ferrari 488 GT3s and a single Porsche 911 GT3 R entered by Swiss team Pzozberer Zürichsee by TFT, driven by Switzerland’s Nicolas Leutwiler and his French co-driver Julien Andlauer.

Reigning champion Giacomo Piccini and his Italian teammate Rino Mastronardi have got the 2020 season off to a perfect start with two wins from pole position to claim a maximum 52 points in the no8 Iron Lynx Ferrari.They currently enjoy a 19-point advantage over the no67 Kessel Racing Ferrari crew of Russia’s Murod Sultanov who will be joined in Le Castellet by Andrea Belicchi.

LMP3: DKR Still Hold the Upper Hand

In the LMP3 category the no3 DKR Engineering Duqueine of 2019 champion Laurents Hörr and 2017 champion Jean Glorieux are at the head of the table on 44 points after winning the opening round at Le Castellet last month followed by a second placed finish in Belgium.

The championship leaders hold an 18-point advantage over the second placed car, the no37 Cool Racing Ligier, with Round 2 winners Nicolas Maulini and Edouard Cauhaupe.

Motorsport98 are currently third, tied on 26 points with the no37 Cool Racing Ligier. Belgian driver Eric De Doncker is joined once again by his French teammate Dino Lunardi, who are hoping to go one better than their second-place finish on their last visit to Le Castellet.

The no27 MV2S Racing Ligier is one of four cars that will feature an all French line up, with Christophe Cresp being joined by 2019 European Le Mans Series LMGTE champion Fabien Lavergne for the second race in a row.

Jacques Wolff and Joffrey de Narda will compete in the no6 CD Sport Ligier, while IDEC Sport will also enter a Ligier for Patrice Lafarge and Stephane Adler.

The Le Castellet 120 will take place at the Circuit Paul Ricard on Saturday 29 August.
