The no72 SMP Racing Ferrari 488 will start from the front of the grid for this afternoons race at the Circuit Paul Ricard which is Round 4 of the 2016 Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup. Alexsey Basov was quickest in the first part of qualifying and then followed it up with 1m58.661 in the Super Pole session to decide the top 10 places on the grid.
The Russian was 0.339s ahead of championship rival Salih Yoluc in the no34 TF Sport Aston Martin V12 Vantage, the Turkish driver posting his best qualifying performance of the season so far to start on the front row in the race.
Row 2 will be headed by the no55 FFF Racing Team by ACM McLaren 650S of Hiroshi Hamaguchi, the Japanese driver’s best time was 0.365s behind the no34 Aston Martin and the McLaren will be joined on the second row by the no88 Mentos Racing Porsche 911.
Six manufacturers were in the top seven places with the no7 BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari F458 of Luigi Lucchini in 5th, no66 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan of Mark Poolein 6th and the no75 Optimum Motorsport Audi R8 of Flick Haigh 7th quickest on the team’s debut in the series.
Round 4 of the 2016 Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup will start at 17h00 this afternoon with two hours of racing on the Le Castellet 5.8km track. The race will be streamed live on the series website at www.gt3lemanscup.com
