In just a few days the start of the 2017 Road To Le Mans will be given at the world famous circuit of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Fifty cars will participate in the second round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup (16 GT3 and 34 LMP3) represented by 31 teams from 13 countries and 100 drivers from 19 nationalities will be at the wheel.
France will be well represented as 23 drivers will race at home and 15 teams will be racing under the tricolor.
The 13.629km long track of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is composed of 38 corners including the most famous such as Mulsanne, Arnage or the Porsche curves that are really appreciated by the drivers.
The longest straight of the track is the Hunaudières which is 5.4km in length. For safety reasons, it has now two chicanes in order to reduce the speed of the cars.
The Circuit de la Sarthe is also famous for being on public roads. Among the 13.629km of the track, 9.444 km are made of public roads which is quite challenging for the drivers as only a few tracks in the world have this configuration. Before the race or every session, the public roads are closed and a team of hundred people set up the track before the cars can run.
Road To Le Mans is a unique opportunity for the teams and drivers to drive on the track of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. There will be two 55 minute races, the first one on Thursday 15 of June at 17:30 and the second one on the morning of the 85th edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours on Saturday 17th of June (11:30-12:25).
The paddock Road To Le Mans will be open to the public who have a “Le Mans 24 Hours general entrance ticket” and the grid will also be accessible to the public next to the Road To Le Mans paddock just before the cars enter the track which is a great opportunity for the fans to have a close look to the cars and meet the drivers before the start of the race.
