Last battle of the season for the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup

The Estoril round on October 22nd will be the last round of the first season of the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup and is expected to be full of action and drama for the fans. The Teams and Drivers titles will be both decided in Portugal and we will finally know the name of the very first champion of the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup. At stake is a top prize of 100,000€ and an invitation in the LMGTE Am class for the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans if the champion is a full-season entry.

Eleven cars will line up in the Portuguese grid representing 4 manufacturers and 22 drivers from all the around the world. This last race of the season will be really competitive as the Teams’ and Drivers’ championships are still open with only a 12-point gap between the current leader (TF Sport) and the third-placed Mentos Racing team.

The leader in the Teams’ championship, TF Sport with their Aston Martin V12 Vantage will keep its regular line-up, Salih Yoluc and Euan Hankey who should fight hard to keep the lead ahead of the Russian team SMP Racing, with the Ferrari n°72 driven by Aleksey Basov and Victor Shaitar. Both teams will be challenged by Egidio Perfetti and Klaus Bachler at the wheel of the Porsche n°88 of Mentos Racing, standing third in the teams' championship.

No less than 8 Ferraris will take part in Portugal, including the 3 entries from AF Corse, the n°51 standing fifth in the teams’ championship, driven by Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci, the F458 n°71 and the F458 n°14. In the teams’ championship, the n°51 is followed by the n°26 F458 of Classic and Modern racing which is P6.

The entry of FFF racing team by ACM will add more diversity to the quality grid of Portugal. The driving duties at the wheel of the n°55 McLaren 650S which is standing 4^th in the championship will be shared by Hiroshi Hamagushi and Adrian Quaife-Hobbs. After being unlucky for the last races, there is no doubt that they will fight for a podium spot to finish their season on a high note.

This final event at Estoril will be decisive for the teams and drivers of the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup and promises plenty of on track action to finish the season in style.

Action starts on Friday October 21st with 2 free practice sessions. On Saturday, qualifying will take place at 11:05 followed by the 2-hour race at 16:45.

There will be plenty of entertainment on and off track with many free activities for both young and old and also Renault Sport races. Round 6 of the 2016 European Le Mans Series, the 4 Hours of Estoril will be the highlight of this weekend in Portugal.
