Battle of the Brands

The 2018 Road to Le Mans will feature a maximum grid of fifty cars with three manufacturers, Norma, Ligier and Ginetta, in LMP3 and Ferrari and Porsche fighting for the top step of the podium in GT3. In 2017 Ligier and Norma took a win apiece, while it was a double for Aston Martin in GT3, so which brand will be victorious in 2018?

Battle of the Brands
08/06/2018

In the first two races of the 2018 season, at Le Castellet and Monza it is two wins for both Norma and Ferrari, with reigning LMP3 champions DKR Engineering taking both races with their Norma M30, while Kessel Racing also did the double with their Ferrari F488 GT3.

Pole positions has also seen Norma take the top spot in France and Italy, with Graff in France and Lanan Racing in Italy, which in GT3 it is one to Ferrari and one to Porsche.

The top speeds at each track saw Norma as the fastest car at Paul Ricard, with a top speed of 282kph, compared to 279.1 for Ligier and 275.5 for Ginetta.  In GT3 Porsche held the upperhand with 280.5 kph compared to 276.9 for Ferrari.

At Monza the top speed recorded through the speed trap was 279.1kph set by the Ginetta, with Ligier on 277.6 and 276.9 for Norma.  Porsche was quickest with a 275.5 kph compared to 274.1 set by the Ferrari.

Who will be victorious in each of the 55 minute encounters on the full 13.6km Le Mans circuit?  We will have to wait and see on Thursday evening and Saturday lunch time.  What can be guaranteed is an action-packed race for round 3 of the Michelin Le Mans Cup.
