Balance of Performance Changes for Round 3 in Austria

Following the second race of the 2016 season at Le Mans, the Balance of Performance (BoP) for the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup has been adjusted for four of the cars taking part in next race at the Red Bull Ring in Austria on Saturday 16 July.

After the race at Le Mans the following cars on the GT3 Le Mans Cup grid have seen an increase in the car weight. 

  • The Audi R8 LMS will receive a 20kg increase on the 1275kg weight it ran in France.  The Audi is now 1295kg, +45g on the base weight of the car (1250kg)
  • The Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 will also receive a 10kg increase from 1280kg to 1290kg.   The Ferrari 458 is +40kg on the cars homologated base weight of 1250kg.
  • The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 will have a 20kg increase applied in Austria, the car’s weight up from 1290kg to 1310kg.  The Lamborghini is +80kg above the homologated base weight of 1230kg.
  • The Porsche 911 GT3-R (991) also receives a 10kg increase to 1265kg. This is 45kg above the cars homologated base weight of 1220kg.

In addition to the weight changes, the engine restrictor on the Audi R8 LMS has been increased by 6mm from 43mm to 49mm.

Success Ballast

One of the key features of the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup is the application of success ballast.  The following cars will have to carry additional weight.

No34 - TF Sport - Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3:  +20kg

No55 - FFF Racing Team by ACM - McLaren 650S:  +15kg

No51 - AF Corse -  Ferrari F488 GT3:  +10kg

No26 - Classic & Modern Racing - Ferrari F458 Italia GT3: +5kg

No88 - Mentos Racing - Porsche 911 GT3-R (991) : +5kg

 

The Red Bull Ring in Austria will host Round 3 of the 2016 Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup on Saturday 16 July.
