The no3 DKR Engineering Norma-Nissan will start both races for this weekend’s Road to Le Mans from pole position after Jean Glorieux secured pole position for race 2 with two fast laps just before the chequered flag.
The session was interrupted by a red flag with nearly nine minutes of the session remaining when Alexander Talkanitsa went off the track at Porsche Curves in the no90 AT Racing Ligier. The fastest cars were the no2 United Autosports Ligier of John Falb with a 3m58.531 and the no97 TF Sport Aston Martin of Ahmad Al Harthy with a time of 4m00.832, which was good enough for 2nd place overall.
Once the session resumed there was a mad dash to get some fast laps in before the chequered flag was shown. John Falb looked on course to take the pole with less than a minute on the clock after improving to 3m56.459 but then the no3 DKR Engineering Norma went to the top of the timing screens as Glorieux posted a 3m53.726 with 30 seconds left. The Belgian driver then went even quicker as he took the chequered flag, posting a 3m52.563.
John Falb also improved with a 3m55.510 to join Glorieux on the front row for Saturday’s race, with the no14 and no87 RLR M Sport Ligiers in third and fourth places respectively.
The GT3 pole was secured by the no97 TF Sport Aston Martin with Al Harthy remaining in the pits after the session was resumed. His time was the 5th fastest overall in the qualifying session.
The no46 Ebimotors Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Emanuele Busnelli was second fastest with a lap time of 4m03.396 and Flick Haigh in the no75 Optimum Racing Audi was third fastest in GT3.
Race 2 of the Road to Le Mans weekend will take place on Saturday morning in front of the huge 24 Hours of Le Mans crowd, with the 55-minute race getting underway at 11h30.
