Who will be crowned 2019 champions in Portimão?

The 2019 season is coming to an end, and the classification in the two classes of the Michelin Le Mans Cup is really close.

The GT3 class is led by the reigning champions Kessel Racing with the Ferrari 488 GT3 n°8 (Sergio Pianezzola/ Giacomo Piccini) on 105 points. The Swiss team have secured three victories since the beginning of the season in Le Castellet, Barcelona and Spa-Francorchamps.

Only 9 points behind is the Ferrari 488 GT3 n°71 of Luzich Racing. For their first season in Michelin Le Mans Cup, Fabien Lavergne and Mikkel Mac took one victory in Monza and won the two races at Road To Le Mans. After being crowned in Spa-Francorchamps last month as 2019 ELMS LMGTE champions the team will certainly hope to repeat their performance in Michelin Le Mans Cup and become the first team to be crowned in both championships in their debut season.

In third position of the GT3 class is the n°99 Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage of Ross Gunn and Andrew Howard with 62 points. After scoring 2 second positions, one in Road To le Mans and one in Spa-Francorchamps, the British duo will give everything in Portimão to win their first victory of the season.

There will be not only the right to be called 2019 LMC Champion at stake in Portimão but also one invitation for the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMGTE Am class.

In LMP3, the n°25 Lanan Racing Norma M30 of Michael Benham and Duncan Tappy is leading with 91 points after three wins (Paul Ricard, Monza and Spa-Francorchamps).

Only 7 points behind is the reigning champion DKR Engineering (Laurents Hörr, François Kirmann) that will fight for the victory in Portimão in order the won its third title in a row.

With 61 points, the Norma n°2 of Nielsen Racing, driven by Tony Wells and Colin Noble is third, even if the team cannot be champion anymore, they are still in contention for the second place.

The Portimão round will take place on Sunday 27th of October and promises to be action pack with all the four titles still up for grab.
