LMC - 13/06/2019 - Jeff CARTER
The session was interrupted by a short red flag after nine minutes to recover a car stuck in the gravel at the first chicane and to clear some debris. When qualifying resumed it was a dash to the chequered flag with the fastest times being set late in the session.
As the chequered flag was waved it was the no25 Lanan Racing Norma of Michael Benham who went quickest, the 2018 Road to Le Mans winner posting a 3m54.308 lap to push the no3 DKR Engineering Norma of François Kirman into second place by three tenths of a second.
It was a similar story in the GT3 category with the no71 Luzich Racing Ferrari of Fabien Lavergne claiming the pole position at the chequered flag, the French driver lapping the track in 3m59.877 to put the no8 Kessel Racing Ferrari of reigning Michelin Le Mans Cup champion Sergio Pianezzola back into second place by over half a second. The no40 Mercedes AMG GT3 of Valentin Pierburg was third fastest, 3.6 seconds adrift of the leading car and just ahead of the no99 Beechdean AMR Aston Martin of Andrew Howard.
The first 55-minute Road to Le Mans race will take place later today at 17h30.
