Q1: DKR Engineering and Beechdean AMR Claim Pole for Race 1

LMC - 13/06/2019 - Jeff CARTER

An action packed 20-minute qualifying session saw the no3 DKR Engineering Norma of Laurents Hörr and the no99 Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage of Ross Gunn secure the class pole positions for this afternoon’s first Road to Le Mans Race on the full 13.6km La Sarthe circuit.

Hörr took the provisional pole position early in the session with a 3m51.658 lap and held on until the last few minutes when Duncan Tappy in the no25 Lanan Racing Norma posted a 3m51.432.  However Laurents Horr was on a flying lap setting the fastest time of the session in the first and second sectors and crossed the line to take the chequered flag in a new record time for an LMP3 car at Le Mans of 3m49.570.

Ross Gunn took his debut Michelin Le Mans Cup GT3 pole position in the no99 Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage, the British driver posting a 3m55.887 lap, finishing the session 11th overall and well ahead of the second placed car.

The no97 TF Sport Aston Martin was second quickest with Tom Gamble’s time of 3m 58.118 good enough for 19th overall.  Mikkel Mac in the no71 Luzich Racing Ferrari was third fastest, 0.7 seconds behind the no97 Aston Martin.
