François Kirmann – n°3 DKR Engineering Norma M30: “The session went well. I arrived right at the good time for my tyres and I was able to do a clear lap adding the sectors one by one, so it was a good qualifying session for me. This is just the first step; the race is tomorrow, and everything will be done at that moment. But it was important for the championship to secure the pole position point.
“We will deal with this race as all the other races. We are here to win and nothing else. To win the championship we need to win the race.
“The circuit here in Portimão is really different with a lot of elevation changes. So it’s not like any other track; it’s really nice.”
Fabien Lavergne – n°71 Luzich Racing Ferrari 488 GT3: “I was surprised during this session as for once I found the grip really quickly because the track was quite hot. Usually, the tyres are really good from the fourth or fifth lap but today they started to be good from the third lap, so I was not ready for this! I have to admit that my lap was clear, but I could have pushed more. Anyway, we are on pole and this is great.
“Concerning the race tomorrow we should not worry too much. What is good is that there are some LMP3 between us and Kessel Racing, so it can change the outcome of the race. We just have to focus on being the quickest and win the race.
“Being ELMS champion and LMC champion as well would be fantastic. It was always the goal of the season, to win two invitations to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and maybe I will win mine tomorrow. I will do everything for that.”
