New in Michelin Le Mans Cup: Scuderia Villorba Corse

LMC - 25/03/2019 - Jeff CARTER

While the Italian team Scuderia Villorba Corse is familiar to fans of Endurance racing with their ELMS programmes, in 2019 they will have a two car GT3 programme in the 2019 Michelin Le Mans Cup for the first time.

Scuderia Villorba Corse will run two different cars in 2019.  A Mercedes AMG GT3 for Swiss drivers Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia, which is part of a collaboration between the Italian team and Mercedes-AMG. The second car will be a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for French pairing Cédric Mézard and Steeve Hiesse, who finished third in the GT3 category of the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup with SVC Sport Management.

Raimondo Amadio, Scuderia Villorba Corse team principal, said: “This new partnership makes us really proud and will make our 2019 season even more exciting. It will allow our structure to build a stronger GT division alongside our solid LMP department. Being close to such a prestigious partner as Mercedes-AMG pushes the entire team towards high motivations, aiming to be competitive from the very beginning of the season.”

The 2019 Michelin Le Mans Cup will start in the south of France with the collective test on the 10th April, followed by the first 2-hour race of the season on Saturday 13 April.
