LM P3 - 10/02/2019 - Sophie LIGER
What did you think of your 2018 season in Michelin Le Mans Cup?
2018 was a great year but also a very frustrating one. Our pace in the Lanan Racing Norma was always very strong. Mike and I felt we really could have had more podiums and possibly more wins, but luck wasn’t on our side in 2018. However, we did win the biggest race of the year at Le Mans (Road To Le Mans). Which was incredible and nobody can ever take that away from us.
What do you think of the competition in the LMP3 field?
The competition in the Michelin Le Mans Cup is very strong. I really like the format of the weekends with the Bronze drivers doing qualifying. That really evens everything up.
As the pro driver of your line-up, what relation do you have with Michael Benham?
Well Mike and I have been racing with each other for nearly 5 years now so obviously in that time we have become good friends and so have our families. We both respect each other and we both work really hard. I like to think that’s why everything works so well.
Do you think getting the chance to race on the full 24 Hours of Le Mans track is an important part of the season in the Michelin Le Mans Cup?
It’s a very big bonus to competing in Michelin Le Mans Cup. It’s an incredible experience racing there with all the crowd and the atmosphere. It’s also a really good platform to show all the teams in the 24 Hours race what you are capable of!
What are your goal for this new season in Michelin Le Mans Cup?
Our goal has to be to win the championship. If we keep working like we did last year and we finish races. We stand a very good chance.
