The opening round of the 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Saturday 22 April and will use a new track layout.
In change from the previous two occasions that the series has visited the Catalan circuit, the track layout used will be the new Grand Prix circuit, which misses out the final chicane, reduces the number of corners from 16 to 14 and the track length by 18m to 4.657km.
The last chicane has been removed - 2023 New Track Layout.
The chicane was introduced in 2007 before the final corner but with improvements to the safety infrastructure, including new TECPRO barriers at the last two right hand corners, the circuit has been returned to its original layout.
The Spanish track has also undergone other changes, with a widening of the run-off area in Turn 1, including 70 more metres of gravel plus a slope of 5%, and a new fence protecting Turns 1 and 2 to improve the safety of drivers.
